New RTA Online Vehicle Ownership Transfer Service: Here Are All The Detail

The RTA has introduced a new online vehicle ownership transfer service. This new service will allow users to transfer ownership of their cars online, thereby eliminating the need for them to be physically present at a service centre.

Dubai’s RTA (Roads & Transport Authority) released a video about the details of this new service. Users can now simply visit rta.ae and process the ownership transfer online. This new service is of immense importance as it makes the whole process very convenient for Dubai’s motorists.

Irrespective of the frequency of car buying and selling, the process of ownership transfer was identical until now. Both the buyer as well as the seller had to be present at one of the many service centres at the time of the transfer of ownership. More often than not, this would cause some inconvenience.

Now though, with the arrival of the new online ownership transfer system, things have changed for the good.

Steps For Vehicle Ownership Transfer:

• Head to the RTA Website or Dubai Drive Mobile app
• Use the registered username and password to login
• Alternatively, one can use UAE Pass to login
• Click on ‘Licensing Services’ and then on ‘Vehicles’
• Choose the correct vehicle type and click continue
• Under the ‘Vehicle Licensing Services’ tab, click on ‘Change Ownership’
• Enter Buyer details
• Buyer will receive a confirmation SMS
• The owner can choose to retain the number plates or return them to the RTA
• Upon the approval of the terms and conditions of the service, the buyer will receive an SMS to confirm the transaction and sign the purchase agreement
• The buyer will have to verify their UAE Pass and agree to the terms and conditions
• After receiving the buyer’s confirmation, the seller will receive an SMS to sign the sales purchase agreement
• Upon payment of the fee, the UAE Pass will be verified again

Cost Of Online Vehicle Ownership Transfer:

• Selling Contract Fee — AED 400
• Knowledge Fee — AED 20
